 Deputy Hall with Chica.
Deputy Chad Hall was teamed with Chica in November of 2008.
Chica is a five year old Belgian Malinois. The Belgian
Malinois has earned the reputation in law enforcement, of
being a high energy dog that cannot be worn out. This is an
endearing quality for a police service dog. Like the
Sheriff’s previous teams, Chica has been trained in
narcotics detection, search, tracking and handler protection
(please don’t try to pet her), all of which remain of great
importance to the safety of our community. She is also
trained to respond to handler commands in a language other
than English. Deputy Hall and Chica are called upon
frequently to support both the Sheriff’s law enforcement
obligations and our obligations to community safety.
Sheriff John Thompson maintains the value of our officers
and their canine companions cannot be established in the
total of their cost, but more in the added safety and
support they continue to provide to our community. Chica demonstrating some of her training.
